Virgil Harrison Deatherage, Jr., a resident of Dothan, died Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at his residence under the care of Encompass Hospice. He was 74.
Celebration of life services will be held at a later date.
Virgil was born in Houston County, Alabama December 26, 1946 to the late Virgil Harrison and Blondell Scott Deatherage, Sr. He was a lifelong resident of Houston County and graduated from Rehobeth High School and the Alabama Aviation College in Ozark. Following graduation, he joined the United States Navy and later became an Ironworker working for Carraway Steel. Virgil was a big Alabama Football fan and enjoyed fishing.
Virgil is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Brenda Joyce Deatherage; sister, Anna Harrison and a brother, Kenneth Deatherage.
Survivors include his son, Beau Deatherage (Kristy); step-sons, Kevin Deatherage (Wendy) and Keith Deatherage; grandchildren, Kendyle and Colier Deatherage; step grandson, Dakota Deatherage; sister Kathy Jones and several nieces and nephews.
