Sarah Jewel Eubanks
July 4, 1944 ~ January 2, 2024 (age 79) 79 Years Old
Sarah J. Eubanks, a resident of Abbeville, Louisiana, and a lifelong resident of Dothan, died peacefully on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 at Vermillion at Eastridge Assisted Living, where she had resided for a year. She was 79 years old.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, on Sunday, January 7, 2024 in Clearman Chapel at Southern Heritage with Reverend Chuck Locke officiating. Burial will follow at the Ashford City cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM prior to the funeral service.
Sarah was born to the late Caleb and Mavis Smith. She was raised in Abbeville, Alabama and graduated from Abbeville High School. Sarah retired as a night auditor from Buffalo Rock. She was fond of reading, attending and serving in her church and Alabama football. Ms. Eubanks was an active member at Ridgecrest Baptist Church in Dothan, where she helped in the nursery. She was a devout Christian and believer of the Word of God.
Mrs. Eubanks is preceded in death by her parents, Caleb B. and Mavis Hicks Smith and her late husband, Mr. Larry Eubanks.
Survivors include one sister, Mary Ruth Griffin of Geneva; one brother and sister in law, Wayne and Kathy Smith of Abbeville, Louisiana; one step-son, Brent Eubanks (Wendy) and one step-grandson, Cason Eubanks of Dothan. Other survivors include nieces Holly Trahan (Blaine) of Abbeville, Louisiana; Heather Vice (Scott) of Erath, Louisiana and nephews Brandon Smith (Nicole ) of Katy, Texas; Tim Griffin ( Nell) of Geneva ; and Greg Griffin (Lisa) of Forney, Texas .
The family would like to thank the staff of Vermillion at Eastridge Assisted Living for their utmost care, love and support to Mrs. Eubanks over the past year. Also, the family would like to thank Lamm Hospice Care for their support and expert medical care provided to Mrs. Eubanks over the last month.
