We are deeply sorry for your loss - the staff at Southern Heritage Funeral Home
Sally Roselle Thomas Shinn, a resident of Dothan, Alabama, passed away Sunday, May 15, 2022 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was 84.
Family and friends will gather in celebration of the remarkable life and times of Sally at a later date.
Sally was born to the late William Albert and Georgia Lee Thomas of Henderson, Nevada on September 3, 1937 in Columbus, Georgia. Our mother was a spirited woman to say the least. She cursed like a sailor and shared her truths with veracity and passion, and always wore her heart on her sleeve. She was the most playful, mischievous, and loving spirit of anyone we knew. She was always generous and never met a stranger. The biggest love of her life were her three children. Our mother always found her solitude and restoration in her garden, growing fruit trees and roses and in her kitchen as well, she always had something baking, and cooking the most delicious foods that she shared with family and friends. Our mom was not perfect, as none of us are, but she was perfectly unique and beautiful just as she was. Mom will be dearly missed by all who loved and knew her, till forever and always.
Sally is preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Sheri Corrine Shinn of Killeen, Texas; a sister, Annie Pearl Thomas Shinn of Slocomb, Alabama.
Survivors include a daughter, Sonya Colleen Shinn Edwards of Dallas, Texas; a son, Jerry Michael Shinn of Waxahachie, Texas; a grandson, Ashton Edwards of Dallas, Texas; three sisters, Joyce Elinoff of Laguna Niguel, California, Linda Tinkam and Nancy Thomas of Smithville, Texas.
