Judy (Seymore) Howell

Judy Seymore Howell, 80, a long time resident of Dothan, died Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at UAB Highlands Hospital in Birmingham Alabama.

Funeral services will be held at 3 PM Sunday, March 24, 2024 at Clearman Chapel at Southern Heritage with Reverend Billy Rich officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 PM until 2:45 PM prior to the services at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, memorial giving, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Born in Selma, Alabama on October 3, 1943. Judy was the daughter of the late John Marion Seymore and Mary Magdalene Bearden Seymore. She was medically retired from Flowers Hospital, Dothan, where she worked as an emergency room nurse. In addition, Judy was a paramedic and worked many years at Pilcher’s Ambulance Service. She was a dedicated healthcare professional and spent many years caring for others. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church. In her early years, she was an active member, who loved and faithfully served the Lord.

Judy’s life was fulfilled by her church, family and friends. She loved traveling and especially enjoyed the beach and the mountains. She enjoyed all sports and loved Saturday game day and watching her favorite football team, Alabama Crimson Tide! She cherished her time studying the Bible, drinking coffee and watching her sweet birds out her breakfast window. The joy of her life were her precious grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved spending her time with her family and friends.

 Survivors include her children, Ron Durham, Jr. (Sandra), Alisha Lewis (Wade), Beth Handal (Nelson) and Stephen Durham; grandchildren, Mallory, Trevor, Andrew, Lauren Elizabeth, Abbey Grace, Patrick, Will, Ignacio (Kelly), and Oscar; great grandchildren, Brailyn, Dalton, Laken, Brox, Alex, and Isabella; siblings, Ricky Seymore (Sandra), and Patsy Moore (the late Ludie Moore), along with several nieces, nephews and extended family.
