John Robert Espy, Jr.

John Robert Espy, Jr., a resident of Marietta, Georgia and formerly Gordon, Alabama died Tuesday, June 27, 2023 at Flowers Hospital in Dothan, Alabama. He was 74.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Friday, June 30, 2023 in Clearman Chapel at Southern Heritage with Dr. Samuel Prim officiating. Burial will follow in Gordon City cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 AM until 10:45 AM prior to the services at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.

John was born June 13, 1949 in Dothan, Alabama to John Robert and Mary Kathryn Adams Espy. He was a 1967 graduate of Ashford High School, attended Marion Military Institute where he played varsity football and graduated from the University of Alabama in 1972. John owned and operated  a successful Real Estate Appraisal business in Atlanta, Georgia before his retirement. He loved to travel the world with friends and was a lifelong Methodist.

John is preceded in death by his father, John Robert Espy, Sr.

Survivors include his mother, Mary Kathryn Adams Espy; uncle, Roy C. Adams and his wife, Jeanette; numerous cousins and extended family; dear lifelong friend, Samuel J. Hall, IV and his wife, Kathy, along with several friends.
