Grady Dunn Obituary

Grady Lee Dunn, a resident of Ozark, Alabama, died Thursday, February 21, 2019 at Oakview Manor in Ozark, Alabama. He was 90.

Mr. Dunn’s wishes were for no services.

Born to the late Augustus Grady and Theresa Louella Barnard Dunn, Mr. Dunn joined the Army in 1947; but always wanting to fly like a bird, he switched to the Air Force once it was established in 1953. After serving in the Air Force for 23 years, flying as a pilot in the Korean War, and making the rank of Master Sergeant, he retired. After his retirement he began a second career as an instructor in March of 1970 at the Alabama Aviation Technical College in Ozark, Alabama for eighteen years, retiring in 1988. He was a member of the Dothan Gem and Mineral Club, Air Force Veterans Association, and the American Legion. Mr. Grady loved to sing to his loving wife of 70 years, and to the family on vacation trips. He was an avid gardener, automobile, and aircraft mechanic.

He is preceded in death by his wife Esther Pluma Blossom Dunn; his parents; two sisters, Barbara Fordham, and Madie Loretta Nowakowski.

Survivors include a son, Grady Allan Dunn; two daughters, Linda Catherine Gold (D.), and Patricia Ann Lambert; six grandchildren, Matthew Jorgensen (Michelle), Angie Marie Jorgensen Greer (Mike), Elizabeth Linda Gold Eggers (Jonathan), David Joel Gold, Trishka Beasley Pestotnik (Chris), and Christopher Beasley; twelve great grandchildren.
