Donald (Don) Eugene Vancil, a resident of Dothan, Alabama passed away Saturday, December 14, 2019 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was 69.
Funeral Services will be held at 1PM Wednesday, December 18, 2019 in Clearman Chapel at Southern Heritage Funeral Home with Dr. Ricky Plummer officiating. Interment will be
immediately following the service in Gardens of Memory Cemetery with Southern Heritage Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 12PM
to 1PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Bethel Baptist Church Building Fund, 3257 East Cottonwood Road, Dothan, Alabama 36301.
Mr. Vancil was born on August 5, 1950 in Flint, Michigan to the late Charles and Dorothy Vancil.
Don served in the United States Navy from 1971 to 1980. He was retired from Southern Nuclear Operating Company and a member of Bethel Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Robert Vancil.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years Rhonda Collins Vancil; a daughter, Sarah Guilford; two sisters, Judy Moss and Jan Massingham; a sister- in-law, Sue Vancil; three grandchildren, Nathan Guilford, Hannah Guilford and Zack Dickens along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers are Ken Barfield, Billy Benton, Buzz Brewer, Tommy Burns, Don Clements and Larry Sasser.
Honorary Pallbearers are Coley Mathis and The Charity Sunday School Class.
