Charles Lynn Simmons

Charles Lynn Simmons, a resident of Ashford, Alabama, died Sunday, September 5, 2021 at Noland Hospital. He was 72.

Funeral services with full military honors will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, September 13, 2021 at Harvest Church with Pastor Keith Frith and Pastor Mike Shiver officiating and Southern Heritage Funeral Home directing. Burial will follow at Crestlawn Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM, Sunday, September 12, 2021 at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Love In Action 279 West Main Street Suite 2 Dothan, Alabama 36301.

Charles was born in Samantha, Alabama to the late Clarige and Movrine Thacker Simmons. After serving his country in the United States Air Force, he began work at Alabama Power in 1974 and retired from Farley Nuclear Plant after 40 years of service. His favorite hobbies were fishing and golf. He was a loving husband of 50 years to Wynne Miller Simmons, along with being a great father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, and brother. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Mark Simmons.

Survivors include his wife, Wynne Simmons; children, Eric (Bridgette) Simmons, and Stacey (De’Anna) Simmons; grandchildren, Katie Bennett (Matthew), Jared Simmons, Caleb Simmons, Matthew Simmons, and Victoria Simmons; great grandchild, Caroline Bennett; brother, Phillip (Cathy) Simmons; sisters, Janice (Dale) Frizzell, and Brenda (Sonny) McCart; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
