Billy Charles Hughes

Billy Charles Hughes, a resident of Dothan, died Friday, November 17, 2023 at the home of his daughter. He was 88.

Funeral services for Mr. Hughes will be held at 11 AM Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at First United Methodist Church in Marianna, Florida with Dr. Nathan Atwood officiating. Private family burial will follow in Cotton Hill Family cemetery in Dale County, Alabama. The family will receive friends from 10 AM until 10:45 AM prior to the service at the church.

Mr. Hughes was born November 22, 1934 in Cottonwood, Alabama to the late William Odell and Sarah Frances Peacock Hughes. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and retires from Saben Appliance in Marianna as General Manager.

Mr. Hughes is preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Jan Hughes Metcalf and a brother, Sonny Hughes.

Survivors include his wife, Emma Hughes; daughter, Robyn and Ronnie Gause; son in law, Jeff Metcalf; six grandchildren, Jeslyn Nicodemus (Luke), Whitney Bowman (Chase), Jared Metcalf, Greer Moreman (Trey), Jackson Gause and Emma Grace Gause; four great grandchildren, Callyn and Lyana Bowman, Declan Nicodemus and Isla Banks Moreman; sister, Betty Gary and two brothers, Bobby Hughes and Dell Hughes (Karen).
