Billy Harrison Obituary

Billy G. Harrison, a resident of Ashford, Alabama died unexpectedly Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at UAB Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama due to complications from surgery. He was 57.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, September 26, 2021 in the Clearman Chapel at Southern Heritage Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at Antioch Baptist Church in Ashford, Alabama with Southern Heritage Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at the funeral home.

Billy was born October 2, 1963 and was raised in Gordon, Alabama. He was a 1981 graduate of Ashford High School. Billy spent five years serving his country in the United States Army. He also spent many years as a paint and body mechanic, as well as an electrician.

One of Billy’s passions was football. He dedicated many years to the Ashford Midget League program as a football coach and mentor. Billy is still known by many as “Coach”. He was an avid Alabama Crimson Tide fan. He was an outdoorsman, who loved spending time hunting and fishing. Billy was very reserved about his relationship with Christ, but he was saved and had a close relationship with his personal savior Jesus Christ. Billy’s greatest love were his children and grandchildren. Many will say to know him was to love him. He was a beloved father, “B Pop”, and friend who will truly be missed.

Billy is preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Sara Harrison.

He is survived by the love of his life, Wanda Beason, his children, Brooke Whitten, Hayden “Hootie” Harrison, Nisha (Brian) Beason, Nick (Elana) Dillard, and Cody Dillard; grandchildren, Paislee and Jack Whitten, Mason Edmondson, and Ashley Rohan (Mike); siblings, Diane Dyess (Dawson), Hubert “Junior” Harrison (Theresa), Susan Jones (David), Scotty Harrison (Amy), and Maryann Money (David); as well as several nieces, nephews, and special friends.

Serving as pallbearers will be Billy’s lifelong friends Buck Steed, Ben Miller, Kevin Jackson, Tim Crawford, John Price, and Hardy Gray.

The family would like to give a special Thank You to Dr. Bryant Willliams in Dothan, Alabama, along with Dr. Charles Peyton and the staff at UAB Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama for their compassion and care.
