James Doyle Clark, a resident of Cottonwood, died Friday, May 11, 2018 at Flowers Hospital. He was 86 years old.
Funeral services for Mr. Clark will be held at 2 PM Sunday, May 13, 2018 in Clearman Chapel at Southern Heritage with Pastor Nash Wills officiating. Burial will follow at Clayton Cemetery near Cottonwood with Southern Heritage directing. The family will receive friends from 1 PM until 1:45 PM prior to the services at the funeral home.
Mr. Clark was born June 6, 1931 in Cottonwood, Alabama to the late Whit and Mary Watford Clark. At an early age he moved to Columbus, Georgia where he was raised. Following graduation, Mr. Clark joined the United States Air Force and retired after 22 years of service. After his military career he had his second career working with the Postal Service. Mr. Clark loved fishing, Alabama Crimson Tide football, Atlanta Braves baseball and was an avid gunsmith.
Mr. Clark is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Donnie Clark.
Survivors include his wife, Christine Clark; daughter, Kathy Palmer; sons, James Michael Clark (Robby Claire), Joe Clark (Terri), Jeff Clark (Becky); 15 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; two sisters, Shirley Gaus (Jim), Betty Jo Gay; brother, Rudy Clark (JaDon).
