Brenda Joyce (Gibbons) Holloway

Brenda Joyce Holloway, a resident of Dothan, died Saturday, May 20, 2018 at Southeast Alabama Medical Center. She was 77.

Celebration of Life services will be held at 10 AM Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at Ridgecrest Baptist Church with Pastor Ray Jones officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 PM until 7 PM Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at Ridgecrest Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Memory Hill cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to; Ridgecrest Baptist Church Building Fund, Kindred Hospice, Camp I Believe or SAMC Foundation Palliative Care Program.

Joyce was born December 29, 1940 in Hartford, Alabama to the late William C. and Gladys Culbreth Gibbons. She was raised in Columbus, Georgia and was a 1959 graduate of Jordan Vocational High School. She met Morris and married on August 26, 1961 and soon after began a 31 year career at GMAC Finance. Joyce has been a faithful member of Ridgecrest Baptist since 1962 and had a servant’s heart. She kept the bed babies in the nursery and spread God’s love through visiting shut-ins and the nursing homes. Mama Joyce, as she was known will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many.

Joyce is preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Bobby Gibbons.

Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Morris Holloway, sons and daughters in law, Brian and Michelle Holloway, Neil and Tiffany Holloway; grandchildren, Lauren Holloway Fisher and James, Lindsay Holloway and fiancé, Erik Broten, Landon Holloway; great-grandson, Harrison Fisher; brother, Paul Gibbons and a sister in law, Bonnie Gibbons; brother in law, Harold Eugene Holloway.
