Shelia Benefield Obituary

Shelia Faye Johnson Benefield, a resident of Dothan, died Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at Southeast Health Medical Center following a brief illness. She was 71.

Faye’s wishes were for cremation and no services are planned at this time.

Faye was born October 25, 1952 to the late Fred Vance Johnson and Lucille Stewart Lee. She grew up in Dothan and attended Rehobeth High School. She began a career as an Optician and worked for many years at Denny Vision and later retired from Mobile Eye, Ear and Throat. Faye loved her family and enjoyed the time they spent together.

Faye is preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Bobby Fred Johnson and Phillip Vance Johnson.

Survivors include her son, Freddie Jackson and wife, Caryn; grandchildren, Justyn Jackson and wife, Jessica, Caitlyn Jackson and Joshua Sellers; great grandchild, Jase Jackson; siblings, Shirley Boyett, Diane Paramore, Curtis Paul Johnson; sisters in law, Teresa Johnson and Carol Johnson.
