Victor Allen Bennett, a resident of Dothan, died Friday, May 13, 2016 in the Town of Newburgh, New York. He was 67.

Memorial services will be held at 2 PM Thursday, May 19, 2016 at Dothan Church of God with Pastor George Ellison officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the services at the church.

Mr. Bennett was born November 3, 1948 in Detroit, Michigan to Cecil Gilbert and Opal Wanda Richmond Bennett. At an early age he moved to Troy, Michigan where he was raised. He was an auto mechanic and then began a career as an over the road truck driver. Mr. Bennett enjoyed watching movies and working in his yard.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Bennett, Dothan; daughter and son in law, Dara and Joseph Lavery, Monroe, MI; sons, Allen Bennett, Dothan, Christopher Counsell, Dickson, TN; grandchildren, Sheena Lavery, Joseph Bennett, Shauna Counsell, Jonathan Tate Bennett; two great grandchildren; sister and her husband, Reta and Marty Griffin, Clawson, MI; brother, William Bennett, Troy, MI.
