Kirby Leo Smitherman, a resident of Dothan, died Friday, October 27, 2017 at Southeast Alabama Medical Center. He was 82.

A memorial service will be held 3PM Sunday, October 29, 2017 in Clearman Chapel at Southern Heritage Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior from 2PM to 3PM at the Funeral Home.

Mr. Smitherman was preceded in death by his parents Kirby and Elvin Parnell Smitherman; two brothers, Marvin Smitherman and Bud Smitherman; one sister, Mae Boyce.

Mr. Smitherman is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Tina Helveston Smitherman; son, Bubba  Smitherman; daughter Karen Smitherman Herring (Don); four grandsons, Mitch Herring (Leigh Ellen), Zack Herring (Tori), Garrett Herring, and Ross Herring; one great grandchild, Livy Herring.
