James Edward North Sr.

James Edward North, Sr., 81, of Dothan, Alabama, went home to be with his heavenly Father Monday, February 12, 2018 surrounded by his loving family.

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Friday, February 16, 2018 in Clearman Chapel at Southern Heritage with Reverend Kyle Gatlin officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 PM until 8 PM Thursday, February 15, 2018 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Indian School, 1301 North Main Street, Chamberlain, South Dakota 57325 or Landmark Park, PO Box 6362, Dothan, AL 36302.

Jim was born June 16, 1936 in Hyden, Kentucky and joined the Air Force at an early age. He met the love of his life, Marion and they married October 16, 1961. Together with five children they had a wonderful journey of life. Jim worked hard every day as the owner and operator of North’s Auto Service Center where he was a lifelong mechanic that was respected by the community for his skill, honesty and generosity. He had a love for life, his family and enjoyed camping, farm life and all of the family’s activities. Jim was a mentor to many and a great father, husband and grandfather. He will be greatly missed but lives on in our hearts and lives forever.

Jim is survived by children, Cheryl (Craig) Scurlock, Dothan, Alabama, Linda (Ned) Lowry, McLean, Virginia, Jamie Woodham, Dothan, Alabama, James E. (Sherry) North, Jr., Petal, Mississippi, Jon (Michelle) North, Ashford, Alabama; ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren; a loyal pet, Pepi.
