James Michael “Mike” Byers, Jr. a resident of Dothan, died Saturday, August 20, 2016 at Southeast Alabama Medical Center. He was 65.
Memorial services for Mike will be held at 4 PM Monday, August 22, 2016 at Evangel Assembly of God with Pastor Robert Hamilton officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 3 PM prior to the service at the church. At other times the family will be at the family residence. In leiu of flowers, memorials may be made to; Alzheimers Resource Center, 1314 Westgate Parkway #2 Dothan, AL 36303.
Mike was born in Mobile, Alabama to the late James Michael and Dorothy Dowdle Byers. He was a 1969 graduate of Vigor High School where he was the drum major. Mike was an avid outdoorsman that enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf and Alabama Crimson Tide football.
Mike is preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Royer.
Survivors include his wife, Ginger Byers; sons, Michael C. Byers, Jonathan Walley (Blair); daughter, Krista Gibson (Kenny); grandchildren, Kayla Walley, Terry Byers, Banks Byers, Eiland Byers, Zoe Royer, Eden Royer, Brooklyn Hutchins, Faith and Tristan Gibson; brother, Larry Byers; sisters, Margaret Miller and Patty Byers, several nieces and nephews.
