Charles Gregory Mercer, a resident of Ashford, died Thursday, July 21, 2016 at Southeast Alabama Medical Center. He was 60.

Graveside services for Mr. Mercer will be held at 10 AM Saturday, July 23, 2016 at Crestlawn Memorial cemetery. The family will receive friends at the cemetery immediately following the service.

Mr. Mercer was born October 27, 1955 in Houston County and was a lifelong resident. He was a 1974 graduate of Ashford Academy and started a career with Meadow Gold Ice Cream. Mr. Mercer was currently employed with Buffalo Rock as a warehouse coordinator and loved farming and hunting.

Mr. Mercer is preceded in death by his mother, Mary Love Mercer.

Survivors include his father, Charles E. Mercer; wife, Patricia Poole; step daughter, Jan Pennington; step son, Richard Poole; step granddaughter, Ashley Pennington; sister, Terry Snellgrove; brother, Ronnie Mercer; nephew, Nicholas Snellgrove (Amber); special friends, Jeff Love and Alex Cameron.
