Pre-paid funeral plans are very cost effective.  With a funded funeral arrangement, the cost of your services and merchandise selections are locked in at today’s prices; the only increases that could occur are for third party items such as opening and closing fees, obituary notices, death certificates and flowers.  Southern Heritage offers fair and competitive prices; however, due to inflation it is necessary to increase those prices periodically.  When deciding whether or not to prepay, consider that inflation at a five percent annual rate could escalate funeral costs dramatically.   The funeral that costs $6,000.00 today could cost $9,300.00 in ten years, $15,160.00 in twenty years and $24,695.00 in thirty years. 

Southern Heritage places your pre-need monies with Great Western Insurance, a company with twenty years of experience in handling only pre-need life insurance.  The Great Western policy, which grows over time, is assigned to the funeral home to cover the costs of the future funeral.  If family circumstances should ever cause you to leave the area, your preneed plan and policy can be transferred to a funeral home in the new area.

Great Western has a choice of convenient premium payment plans to meet your needs in funding your prearrangements.   There is no charge to meet with our family service counselor or one of our directors to discuss the options available to you in planning for your final arrangements. 

If you prefer not to prepay for funeral arrangements and desire only to put in writing your wishes concerning your arrangements, we will record that information and keep it on file for your family to refer to at the time of need.  We will gladly arrange an appointment at your convenience for either preplanning or for funded preplanning.

Southern Heritage Funeral Home and Crematory will accept the transfer of preneed plans from other funeral homes.
